SoCal Prep Legends and the Southern California News Group has teamed up with KABC-7 to produce the 2017 SCPL Awards, which will take place on June 11, then air June 24 at 6:30 p.m. on KABC (channel 7).

In the weeks leading up to the show, SoCal Prep Legends will release the nominees for nine of the 11 categories including major awards like Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

Here are the nominees for Most Outstanding Individual Performance of the Year:

  • LaMelo Ball Scores 92 points, Chino Hills

In a performance that garnered national attention and debate, Chino Hills super sophomore LaMelo Ball scored 92 points in February against Los Osos High in a Baseline League matchup. The UCLA-bound point guard was 37-for-61 from the field, including 7-of-22 from the 3-point line and 11-of-14 at the foul line. He even added seven assists.

  • Taylor Dockins Back-To-Back Shutouts in Same Day, Norco

Taylor Dockins, Norco Softball
In the span of just eight hours, Norco softball pitcher Taylor Dockins pitched back-to-back shutouts against top-ranked Los Alamitos and Orange Lutheran in April’s Michelle Carew Classic. Dockins pitching was essential to Norco’s 1-0 and 4-0 wins that day, respectively.

  • Tara Davis Runs Second Best in U.S. Prep History in 100m Hurdles

The Agoura High senior set the second-fastest time in U.S. high school history on May 13 in the 100m hurdle, marking a 12.89 in all conditions at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 prelims at Moorpark High. Davis is now just the fourth high school female athlete to break the 13-second mark in the event.

  • Re-Al Mitchell’s Game-Winning Performance against Centennial (Corona)

St. John Bosco quarterback Re-Al Mitchell finished arguably the best game of his career, going 18-for-23 for 287 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing 14 times for 116 yards, including the game-winning 73-yard touchdown in a 49-47 win CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinal win over Corona Centennial

  • Eric Melesio’s 563 Yards, Eight Touchdown Playoff Game

Melesio rushed for 563 yards and eight TDs on 43 carries to help Norte Vista defeat St. Margaret’s 62-56 in November’s Division 7 quarterfinals. Melesio’s yardage total set Inland and CIF-Southern Section records and was the second-highest mark in state history. Norte Vista needed every point and yard – Melesio’s eighth touchdown came on a 72-yard run with 55 seconds left to win the game.
