Basketball standout Cameron Shelton comes into his own as star player at Damien

LA VERNE — Damien High senior basketball standout Cameron Shelton plays with a chip on his shoulder these days. It wasn’t always like that.

He played for two years at Chino Hills High before transferring to Damien last year for his junior campaign. So he was a part of that Huskies team that went 35-0 and finished No. 1 in the country in every national poll in 2016. Yes, he values that experience, but he just wished he had more of a hand in it.

He was the sixth man but then-coach Steve Baik rarely substituted, relying on the starting five, which included Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball.
