It was a mad dash through the handshake line.
The Cleveland High School softball players were doing their best to stay composed despite the wave of emotions they were experiencing after beating El Camino Real 9-6 on March 24.
They quickly made their way to their customary postgame spot in left field where co-captain Danina Marton began waxing poetic about what the victory meant to her personally.
Finally the emotions came out.
“We all cried,” Cleveland’s Caitlyn Pineda said. “When we heard Danina pouring her heart out, we were all in tears.”
