REDONDO BEACH – Neil Feist began the bottom of the seventh inning at first base for the Torrance baseball team, but would soon find himself heat of things on the mound.
Feist, Torrance’s junior closer and first baseman, replaced starter Colton Kruger after the first two batters reached with the Tartars holding a four-run lead in Thursday’s nonleague game.
“They made him (Colton Kruger) work very hard,” Torrance coach Terry DeWan said of Redondo’s approach. “I kind of led with my heart there. I wanted to see him go out there and try and complete the game. In hindsight, I should have put Neil (Feist) out there to start the inning.”
