Winning Numbers: The 6-foot-5 standout committed to the University of Colorado was voted the SoCal Prep Legends boys athlete of the week with 1,308 votes to edge La Mirada running back Sei-J Lauago, who finished with 1,091 votes. Peters opened the season leading the Spartans to the Sierra Vista/Covina boys basketball tournament title and while earning most valuable players honors in the process. In five games he tallied 115 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists. His best showing was a 28-point output in a win over Monrovia. He netted 25 in the semifinal and the title game win over Colony. Peters is a member of a team that won the Baseline League and Division 3 state last year. Lauago rushed for 300 yards and three touchdowns in La Mirada’s 45-20 victory over La Serna to capture the CIF-SS Southeast Division title.
