GRANADA HILLS — The Chaminade and Granada Hills girls basketball teams were less than a week removed from losing in their respective championship games when they met Tuesday night for the CIF State Southern California Regional Division I opening round.
It was obvious that one team was more prepared than the other. Granada Hills opened the game on a 13-2 run and never looked back in a wire-to-wire 49-38 victory over Chaminade on Wednesday.
“Honestly, we saw Chaminade as the “private” school team that was probably going to overlook us as a public school,” Granada Hills senior guard Emily Mitchell said. “We wanted to put it to them.”
