St. Francis quarterback Michael Bonds guided the Golden Knights to an early 28-7 lead in the second quarter on Friday night.
But Dorsey would not go quietly into the night.
After touchdown passes on each side of halftime from Dorsey quarterback Jerman Gotoy to Elijah Boykins, the Dons were back in business by the third quarter, 28-21. Along with Dorsey’s injection of scoring, they held St. Francis scoreless in the third frame.
Charles Mincy Jr. would find the end zone on the fourth quarter’s first play to tie the game at 28-28, but the ball would have to be turned into the hand of Bonds.
Using weapons like wide receivers Gabriel Mathews and Daniel Scott; and the running attack combo of Jace Harrick and Elijah Washington, Bonds orchestrated a game-winning drive that would lead to Washington’s 2-yard TD run and give the Golden Knights the eventual 34-28 win over Dorsey.
