The mascot is a Griffin, but the student section is known as the “Griffans” and every Los Alamitos opponent knows it. Known for its rambunctious cheers and synchronized chants, Los Alamitos repeats as the SoCal Prep Legends with the best school spirit.

Each year SoCal Prep Legends leaves just one SCPL Awards category to a fan vote, and Los Alamitos principal Brandon Martinez (right) makes sure his students put forth their best effort.

Los Alamitos is best known for it’s “rollercoaster” chant, which is taught to every incoming freshman during student orientation.

“It’s required,” Martinez said.

Although a required chant to learn before becoming a Los Alamitos student is a bit much, it only shows how serious the “Griffans” take its duties at each Los Alamitos athletic event.
