MURRIETA — The chase is still on in Marquis Spiker’s mind, which is why there wasn’t a wild celebration when Murrieta Valley’s standout wide receiver hauled in his 66th career touchdown catch to match the state record held since 2000 by Earvin Johnson of L.A. Cathedral.

“Coming into the season, the goal wasn’t to tie the record but to break it,” said Spiker, who equaled the mark with a 60-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter. “There’s still some work to be done next week.”
