The Mission Viejo-Santa Margarita football rivalry, which has helped highlight the Orange County nonleague seasons in recent years, will continue in the post Bob Johnson Era.

The Diablos and Eagles have signed a two-year agreement to play in 2018 and 2019, Santa Margarita assistant athletic director Jim Hartigan said.

Santa Margarita will play at Mission Viejo in Week 1 this fall while the Eagles will host the South County rivalry in 2019, perhaps at the new stadium at Saddleback College, Hartigan said. The stadium is expected to open in the spring of 2019.
