NBA-bound Lonzo Ball, formerly of Chino Hills and UCLA, will have to look elsewhere for a shoe deal, according to ESPN senior writer Darren Rovell.

Rovell reported that Nike, Under Armour and Adidas have all decided to pass on endorsing the sure-to-be lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft after father LaVar Ball told ESPN that the Balls aren’t looking for an “endorsement deal”, but a licensing deal with the family’s Big Baller Brand.

“We’ve said from the beginning, we aren’t looking for an endorsement deal,” LaVar told ESPN. “We’re looking for co-branding, a true partner. But they’re not ready for that because they’re not used to that model. But hey, the taxi industry wasn’t ready for Uber, either.”

This headline has garnered everything from praise of the big-name companies for not dealing with LaVar to GIFs of how Lonzo should deal with his father.
