Kevin Rooney isn’t one to talk about himself or any milestones.

When asked before the year if he thought about approaching 300 wins, the Notre Dame coach immediately deflected it to focus on the season opener.

For 38 years, Rooney has preached that singular focus while helping Notre Dame become one of the area’s and state’s top football programs. Now on Friday, he could become the ninth coach in California history to join the 300-win club.
