Rancho Cucamonga’s Bria Beale voted SoCal Prep Legends girls athlete of the week, (Oct. 16)

Rancho Cucamonga junior Bria Beale was voted the SoCal Prep Legends girls athlete of the week with 9,543 votes when the polls closed Friday, barely finishing ahead of Saugus’ cross country standout Sydney Suarez, who finished with 8,540 votes.
In two matches last week, the 5-foot-11 outside hitting Beale managed 18 kills to led Rancho to a victory over defending Baseline League champion Chino Hills, and registered 16 kills in a 3-0 win over Los Osos.
The Cougars also went 4-2 over the weekend in the prestigious Torrey Pines tournament with wins over elite foes in Marymount and Mira Costa. In that event Beale tallied 43 kills and 41 digs, giving her 77 kills and 59 digs on the week.
Suarez led a strong Saugus showing at the Santa Clarita Valley Invitational last weekend at Lake Castaic Park, covering the three-mile course in 18 minutes, 11 seconds for a third-place finish and the top California mark. Her performance helped Saugus nail down the team title despite missing two regular runners.
