MOORPARK – Two seasons may not seem like a long time between league titles but for Simi Valley high school baseball, the climb back to supremacy must have felt endless.

Senior captain Owen Sharts decided two years was long enough. Sharts lined a two-run single in the fifth inning that proved to be the key factor in Simi Valley’s 3-1 win over Moorpark.

The victory gave Simi Valley (17-9, 9-3) its first share of the Coastal Canyon League championship since 2016, after Moorpark claimed the title outright in 2017. The Pioneers also end the regular season with five straight wins.
