SoCal Prep Legends Game of the Week: Norco at Rancho Cucamonga (7pm)

Week 0 was different for each team. Rancho Cucamonga breezed by Chaparral 36-7, while Norco hosted an out of state team, Desert Ridge (AZ), and was able to squeak out a 14-10 victory.

With that said, we’ll find out if a blowout win for Rancho Cucamonga will give an unbeatable confidence, or is Norco’s early battle-tested group more prepared for the big matchup in this week’s SoCal Prep Legends Game of the Week.

More like, what to watch: Tonight’s matchup will be highlighted by Rancho Cucamonga’s unveiling of its new on-campus stadium, Cougar Stadium.

But on the field, eyes must be on Rancho Cucamonga skill man Jaylon Redd, who rushed for 151 yards on just 15 carries last week. Wide receiver and defensive back Thomas Graham and Rancho QB Nick Acosta, who threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns without turning the ball over in Week 0.

Defensively, Rancho relies on senior linebacker Samuel Malupo and Washington State-bound defensive back Tayari Venable.

For Norco, it’s led by three playmaking seniors, WR Michael Thomas, DB Michael Porter, and Navy-commit Kyle Gibbs (listed as ATH).

Also, keep an eye out for sophomore QB Nick Lasher and junior running back Travis Dye.

Just a good ole’ fashion “who’s better matchup”.

Neither team is currently in our SCPL Top 10 poll, but a decisive win could put them into the conversation.
