Yvette Garcia
West Covina High School

The senior won the 160-pound weight class at the CIF Southern Section Central Division championship at Upland High School. All of her four victories were by fall, all in less than two minutes each.

Kelly Diaz
Taft High School

Diaz helped position Taft for its first West Valley League title by finishing off regular-season sweeps of El Camino Real and Granada Hills. Diaz scored twice in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over El Camino Real and was credited with another goal in its 2-0 victory at Granada Hills.

Cailyn Crocker
Los Alamitos High School

The girls basketball standout dropped 22 points in an 82-16 win at Fountain Valley. Los Alamitos (19-5, 8-0 Sunset League) is set to close out the regular season when it hosts Marina in hopes of finishing league undefeated.

Palos Verdes

The girls water polo standout sparked Palos Verdes’ huge comeback against Redondo during a key Bay League game. Palos Verdes trailed Redondo 5-0, then started clawing its way back, scoring the go-ahead goal with 2:45 left and holding on down the stretch during a 9-8 triumph.

Janessa Thropay
Chino Hills

The 6-foot-3 forward, who has signed with Oregon State, has been the driving force for the Huskies, with 53 points in two wins last week for the Huskies. She tallied 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals in a 56-39 win over Rancho Cucamonga and followed that up with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals in a 59-51 victory over Upland.

Kimberly Mendez
Bloomington High School

Mendez has helped keep Bloomington (16-0-2) undefeated on the season, while also clinching the Sunkist League title. In going 2-0-1 for the week, Mendez had four goals and four assists, including three goals and three assists against Fontana, Her week gave her 24 goals and 11 assists for the season.

Karley Weeks
Redlands East Valley

Weeks notched a hat trick in a 7-0 win over Eisenhower and scored a brace in REV’s 2-0 win over Cajon. Weeks leads the Wildcats with 14 goals, the only double-digit scorer so far, and second in assists with six.
