Nay Nay Watkins
Arroyo Valley
Watkins registered a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals to lead the Hawks to a 64-45 victory over Huntington Beach Edison in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs. Watkins has 17 triple doubles in 27 games this seasons.

Chloe King
Great Oak
King scored a pair of goals to help the Wolfpack edge Silverado 3-2 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs. Earlier in the week, King scored two goals in Great Oak’s 5-0 victory over San Marino in the wild-card round.

Asia Avinger
Los Alamitos
The sophomore point guard scored 16 points to help the Griffins upset No. 2 seeded Brea Olinda 47-44 in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. Avinger recorded eight assists, nine rebounds and four steals in a 43-37 victory against Roosevelt of Eastvale in the first round.

Brooke Gruneisen
Long Beach Wilson
Gruneisen had six goals, including one at the final buzzer, in the Bruins’ 11-10 win over Santiago of Corona in the CIF-SS Division 3 girls water polo quarterfinals. She scored the final three goals of the match for the Bruins, who host Claremont in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Izzy Barajas
Palos Verdes
It was a busy week for the Palos Verdes girls water polo team and senior Izzy Barajas led the way. Barajas scored three goals in a 9-8 wild card win over Beckman, seven in an 11-8 win over Pasadena Poly and three in a 7-6 quarterfinal loss to Newbury Park.

Vanessa Aguirre
Mark Keppel
The 5-foot point guard was the main catalyst for the Aztecs run to the Division 2AA quarterfinals. In Saturday’s victory over Tesoro (72-56), Smith had a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists. She also had 14 points in Keppel’s win over Cypress (62-13) on Thursday night.

Alexis Whitfield
Whitfield notched back-to-back double-doubles this week for the Chaminade girls basketball team. Tallying 14 points and 12 rebounds in Thursday night’s 67-41 playoff win over Lakeside, then a 17-point, 18-rebound performance on Saturday night in a 71-47 second-round win over Santa Barbara. Chaminade will travel to Vista Murrieta Wednesday in the Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals.
