Junior guard Brandon Wilson stepped up in this past Saturday night’s L.A. City Section first-round playoff game against Crenshaw when he scored 19 of his 20 total points in the second half and overtime period to help the Toreadors advance to the semifinals with a 68-58 victory. Taft will play this Saturday against Fairfax at Roybal Learning Center.
After a bye in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs, Lucas made sure the Conquerors would take advantage, scoring 14 of his 41 points in the third quarter to lead to a 73-59 victory over Hart. The win sent the Conquerors to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2015 where it will face Crossroads on the road on Tuesday.
Anderson, a sophomore, scored 25 points in the Olympians’ 77-45 first-round CIF-SS playoff win over Ventura. He then scored 42 points in the second round as Leuzinger defeated Long Beach Wilson 85-77.

Salahuddin had a game-high 22 points in the Jackrabbits’ 79-73 win over JW North in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. The Jackrabbits play at Oak Park in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
He scored 71 points with 28 rebounds over the Saints’ two CIF-Southern Section playoff wins. The 6-foot-6 junior forward made 28 of 35 shots in the two games. He scored 29 points in a Division 3AA first-round win over Santa Fe 67-60 and scored 42 in a second-round win over Cerritos 78-61. Johnson also had five blocked shots last week.
Salgado won the 145-pound title and was named MVP of the lower weights at the CIF Southern Section Eastern Division championship meet. Salgado recorded four pins, including a 46-second victory over Carter’s Jerry Rubio in the finals. This was Salgado’s third divisional title of his career at the second consecutive season he was selected lower weight MVP.
Prescott won the 160-pound title and was named MVP of the upper weights at the CIF Southern Section Northern Division championship meet. Prescott recorded four pins and a technical fall en route to winning the title. Prescott is Ayala’s first divisional champion since 2011.
