The 6-foot outside hitter managed 33 kills, 17 digs and two aces in Mt. Baldy League matches last week against Colony and Alta Loma. Garcia tallied a team-high 20 kills in a 3-2 loss to defending league champion Alta Loma and also led the Conquistadores with 13 against Colony. On the season she has 163 kills which leads the six-team league. She will also be a pitcher and first baseman on the softball team.
The super freshman won the prestigious Nike Portland Invitational Cross County Girls Division 1 race at Portland Meadows over the weekend with a time of 18:14. It also helped Mayfield win the Division 1 team title. This is just the beginning, Mayfield is ranked No. 2 in California’s Division 4.
Pertofsky had a strong week in helping Sierra Canyon sweep both Crossroads (25-10, 25-7, 25-13) and Campbell Hall (25-18, 25-7, 25-17). The Michigan commit had 11 kills, nine digs, eight blocks and two aces against Crossroads and 15 kills, three digs and two aces against Campbell Hall.
Giarrusso swept her singles matches against Temecula Valley and Murrieta Mesa, helping the Wolfpack improve to 3-0 in the Southwestern League and 8-1 overall. Giarrusso had a 22-1 record heading into Monday afternoon’s nonleague match against Cajon.
She was named most outstanding player at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix won by the Monarchs. Campeau, a senior libero, led Mater Dei with 76 digs in the tournament, including 16 in the championship match win over perennial-power Walton of Marietta, Ga.
Carter had 16 kills in Lakewood’s four set victory over Edison at the Steve Lewis Memorial Volleyfest at Lakewood High on Saturday.
Kiok had a perfect week for the Spartans. She won her three singles matches against Torrance in a 17-1 victory, swept her matches against Redondo and won her two doubles matches in a 15-3 victory over West Torrance.
