Alaina Garcia
Canyon

Garcia picked an opportune time to deliver a career performance, scoring 18 points to spearhead a balanced attack in a 64-48 victory over Valencia to position Canyon for a share of its first Foothill League title since 2014 while breaking Valencia’s 23-game league winning streak.

Allison Ayala
Covina

In leading the Colts to a pair of victories last week, Ayala continued her pursuit of the CIF Southen Section all time record for three-pointers in a season. She added 10 three pointers to bring her national leading total to 131 with two games to play this week, followed by the playoffs. Ayala moved to second all-time last passing Jenny Jennings, who had 129 three-pointers in 1996-97 season for Capistrano Valley. Ayala needs 11 three-pointers to catch leader Courtney Jaco, who finished with 142 in the 2012-13 season to become the all-time leader.

Jesenia Rendon
Carson

Rendon had a big week for the Marine League’s first-place Colts (15-8, 9-0). Rendon had 24 points to lead Carson in a 72-25 win over King-Drew on Feb. 1 and 16 points in a 61-20 rout of Banning on Feb. 3.

The guard led the Wolfpack to a huge victory in the Southwestern League last week. She scored 28 points and led Great Oak to a 58-43 upset of Southwestern League-leading Vista Murrieta last Wednesday. The two teams are tied for first going into the final week of league play.
