Swenson turned in a dazzling week to help Cleveland go 4-0, including victories over El Camino Real and Chatsworth to sweep the season series from both of their West Valley League rivals. Swenson went 10 for 13 on the week, including 5 for 6 in the two West Valley victories, and is hitting .540 for the season.
Stockslager came up with one of her best pitching performances of the season Wednesday in South’s much-needed 4-3 win over rival West Torrance. Stockslager hurled a three hitter, giving up two earned runs with 16 strikeouts.
In hot temperatures at Saturday’s 12th annual San Gabriel Valley track and field championships at San Dimas High School, Buehner broke her own meet record winning the 400 meters in 57.00 seconds to remain undefeated in the 400 this season. She also won the 200 meters in 25.48, recording the third fastest time in meet history to earn athlete of the week honors.
Ollison tossed a pair of complete games as the Broncos swept Murrieta Mesa to remain unbeaten in the Southwestern League. Ollison allowed two hits in a 6-0 victory, and she came back two days later and scattered six hits in a 2-1 victory.
Ridge went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in the Monsoons’ 13-3 nonleague victory over Valley Christian on Thursday and also had four RBIs in their 10-2 victory vs. St. Joseph two days later. Ridge is tied for the team lead with 15 RBIs.
Mercado dominated the sprinting events in a Mt. Baldy League meet against Don Lugo. She won the 400 meters (1:02.95), the 100 (12.25) and the 200 (25.90) and was also part of the winning 4×100 relay team. She also raced at the Inland Empire Championship Invite at Vista Murrieta. In that event, she competed in the freshman/sophomore races and broke school records in both, winning the 200 and taking second in the 100.
Roberts extended her hitting streak to 14 games with a big week last week. In three games, she had eight hits in 12 at-bats, with three doubles, a triple, and seven RBIs. For the season, she’s batting .621 with four home runs and 23 RBIs.
