Granada Hills

Deobler notched 18 kills to lead Granada Hills to a 26-24, 25-16, 25-17 victory over El Camino Real to clinch an outright West Valley League crown, taking the title for the eighth time in the last nine seasons.

Palos Verdes

Sophomore Mazzy Genovese had a breakout performance, taking fifth place overall in 17 minutes, 41 seconds to lead Palos Verdes to a surprising second place team finish in the CIF Southern Section Division 1-2 girls sweepstakes race Saturday at the Mt. SAC Invitational.

Sophomore Mazzy Genovese had a breakout performance, taking fifth place overall in 17 minutes, 41 seconds to lead Palos Verdes to a surprising second place team finish in the CIF Southern Section Division 1-2 girls sweepstakes race Saturday at the Mt. SAC Invitational.

Sualua Pepe
St. Joseph

The Jesters are a young, talented team that’s had an 18-15 overall season thus far, and are headed for the CIF-SS playoffs. One of those bright young lights for the Jesters is Pepe, who had a standout match last week in a five-set league win over Bishop Montgomery. Pepe had 29 kills and four blocks on .341 hitting.

Kenzie Koerber
Chino Hills

The 6-foot-3 opposite hitter propelled the Huskies (21-5) to victories over Los Osos and Rancho Cucamonga with a combined 46 kills, 28 digs, four blocks and five aces in six sets. She tallied 25 kills in 41 attempts on Thursday in a 3-0 Baseline League win over Rancho Cucamonga that gave her team a share of the league title with the heavily favored Cougars. In a 3-0 win over Los Osos earlier in the week, she managed 21 kills in 46 tries with 17 digs. Koerber, who has committed to Utah, has 217 kills, 164 digs, 37 aces and 23 blocks this season.

Evelyn Mandel
Great Oak

Mandel finished as the runner-up for the second consecutive year in the Division 1-2 sweepstakes race at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational. Her time of 17:30 and second-place finish helped Great Oak — which saw all five scoring runner break 18 minutes — to its eighth consecutive Division 1 title at Mt. SAC.

Meghan McClure
Santa Margarita

The senior outside hitter recorded 41 kills last week, including 26 in a four-set victory over Mater Dei that clinched the Trinity League title for the Eagles.

Claire Graves
Citrus Valley

Graves, competing in the Division 1 and 2 individual sweepstakes at the Mt. SAC Invitational Saturday, ran a superb time of 17 minutes, 43 seconds to finish sixth in the race.

Lauren Kendall
Redlands

Kendall erased defending champion Kelly Pearson of Yucaipa’s seven-shot lead over the last nine holes at the Citrus Belt League girls golf championship at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon on Thursday to force a sudden-death playoff, which Kendall won with a 2-foot bogey putt on the second hole.
