ONTARIO – The Warren girls basketball team didn’t shy away from the adversity of an eight-point deficit as it headed into the fourth quarter of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA final Saturday at Colony High.
The Bears (20-10) rallied to tie the score and force overtime, and went on to pull out a 47-42 victory to earn the program’s first CIF-SS title.
Trailing 39-35, the Bears scored four points in 10 seconds to send the game into overtime.
The score was tied 39-39 at the end of regulation and 40-40 early in the extra period.
After the teams traded free throws in overtime, Kaeani Berry scored five consecutive points to give the Bears the lead for good.
